Aspartim was developed in the 60's by a guy (scientist) to kill ants. When one day he accidentily touched it to his tongue he found it was very sweet. It also looked a lot like sugar!
Straight equal can be used as an unequaled ant poision.
Aspartim turns to formaldehyde when it is in the body.
I remember in 1979 when I came across the first that I had seen can of diet coke. It had a warning sign on it saying 'can cause cancer'. I thought, 'amazing! Why would anyone want to drink that?'
I don't know if aspartim causes cancer but even before 1979 I was aware of 'the formaldehyde children' when visiting the local hospital on occasion. There was a ward for formaldehyde children. I remember their limbs expecially were affected with extreme deformities, sometimes just fingers or a hand or very small deformed arm came from their shoulder.
I was told it was from birth control pills used over a certain period of time. I would think 'how could they make a mistake like that, and then carry it on for so long!? It would occur to me that one would need a bit of luck to be born outside this time frame. Or badluck to be born into it.
So here we are aproaching 2009, thirty years on from that first diet coke. Now I wonder, 'does anyone else notice this very large sign!?'
Be good! And happy
