Has anyone experimented with putting seeds in the mouth? I would like to hear. I did with beans last year and it seemed to work- my beans were different to other beans we planted and I like to think they were helping me specifically. So I will be experimenting again next year. Would love to hear from other experimenters.

I have started this this month, and have planted several different things! However one question I have is when you get to seeds of a certain size, such as oregano seeds, which are tiny and you can lose in your mouth, or avocado seeds, which are hard to place in your mouth, especially under the tongue, what do you do then? A friend of mine has suggest to spit your saliva on the ground where you are growing the seed, and that this might be equivalent, or close to equivalent. Anyone have any ideas?

Greetings,
I have no suggestions for Avocado size seeds but I've had an interesting experiment with other seeds we planted by following the steps presented in book 1. The first were dandelion seeds that my husband, myself and two of our children planted last October (in Denver) after holding them under our tongues for 9 minutes (along with the rest of the routine). One of my sons' dandelions came up very fast. The other son's seeds came up about two weeks later. My husband's and mine did not come up until February. They all taste differently. One Son's plants have very large fat leaves, mine are very thin, toothy leaves, my husband's plants are very bushy. I do not really like the taste of everyone else's but they each like theirs.

Also over the winter, my husband and I planted some arugula and yarrow that have been growing in a south facing window. I cannot eat his arugula as it is far too spicy. My arugula was also very spicy but not as spicy as his. I fussed about the spiciness of mine until some aphids appeared ONLY on my plants. From the day they appeared my arugula has been very mild tasting and pleasant to eat. I just brush off the aphids before eating my leaves. Again, each of us prefers our own plants.

Blessings,
JoyceM

Can people here please send me a detailed (if possible) account of what they did and how it resulted in different fruits, as I am trying to write a paper here at school for my english class, and I want to write about how plants that receive info from the person by their saliva grow in a way intended for that person only! I am in need of 25 sources, so please, if you have a story, send it to me at mercedtutor@gmail.com!

Hi. Yes I have. I live in a tiny London flat with just three window sills. I have seedlings growing on all of them. So far I have grown - and eaten - radishes and mixed salad leaves. They taste wonderful. The problems I found with putting the seeds into my mouth for Anastasia's minimum of 9 minutes before planting are that some of the seeds are so tiny they are easy to swallow by accident and that when the time comes to dislodge them from your mouth, the only way is to spit out a large dollop of saliver and keep spitting until you've got the lot! Then it gets tricky and sticky to separate them out for putting into the soil. However, the results are well worth the effort.

Hi. I grew some American Land Cress (in Hampshire, UK) in spring 2009, firstly grown as normal and a second batch grown using the saliva technique. The second batch were much larger and more robust plants, and whereas the normal cress tasted of cress, the second batch had a strong, spicy kick to it. Like eating a chile! I'm going to try on a few more plants this year.
